The Japan Carp project was a really amazing experience for me.
We lived in a Carp centre for three weeks and I was excited to experience their lifestyle. Carp is much more developed in Japan than Europe. I was surprised about the high standard of life that they kept. I couldn’t imagine that students can invest much of their time doing witnessing and helping the Carp activities while they study at university. Japan’s frontline is very strong and that’s what we want to inherit in Europe.
I had the chance to go witnessing almost everyday at Waseda university and it was a very unique and interesting experience. I could bring some guests and give some lectures as well.
The carp members and the Carp leader supported us a lot and took care of us. I felt that we were like one family.
Now I consider Carp lifestyle as a good training to strengthen our life of faith as well as to improve our character, learn to have a more public mindset and to understand how to balance student lifestyle with spiritual activities.
I’m really grateful that we could have the opportunity to meet with the President of UPF and the Carp President as well as the national leader, President Song and Mrs Song. I could have a better understanding of the current situation of the Japanese movement and in particular about the youth. I learnt a lot through this experience and I hope that we could have a good impact on the Japanese people that we met.
I had a really good insight into the Japanese culture and traditions and thanks to this experience I can now understand deeper my mother’s original roots.
In the last week we had the chance to go sightseeing and it was amazing.
Japan is very beautiful and it has a fascinating culture and tradition.
I’m really grateful for those who organised this project and for all who contributed and supported us while we were there.
I value much more Carp activities and I think that it is very important to give to the 1st and 2nd gen the opportunity to have such kind of experiences in Europe. In particular, as I’m the national youth leader of Italy, I would like to involve more youth in Carp activities and expand them all around Italy so that they can have a really good opportunity to deepen their life of faith.
I’m sure that we will all keep in our hearts and minds this incredible experience in Japan.
